TaxBrakes spanked us today by constantly hitting the ball where we weren't.  McHoul's highlights could be summed up by saying "Bob Diggelmann" Not only did he go 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a triple, but he made a beautiful diving catch in the top of the eighth to keep us within a striking distance of 15. Rodney DeLoatch, Tony Dalia, Keven Laffin, and Bill Volpe added 2 hits apiece for the cause.  Bill also had a great over the head catch behind first base.  Despite the rain, the Flood gates didn't open for McHoul this time, but I expect they will.

Pizza Time 20 - Miller's 19

On a cloudy day and trying to get the game in, Pizza Time came back in the 8th to beat Miller's 20-19. Miller's had their bats juiced in the first two innings as they put up

10 runs. But it was Pizza time that kept things in reach. In the 5th inning Miller's put another 5 spot to take a 18-13 lead. Millers 86ed Pizza Time in the 6th and 7th innings. In the 6th inning it was Carlos (Cyclone) Vasquez who hit his first home run, and we all thought it was Miller time. But in this great game, the famous saying of Yogi Berra, “It ain't over till it’s over" applied. And Miller Time became Pizza Time as they served a 7-slice pie to Miller's to take the lead with 7 runs in the 8th. Miller's bats died in the 7 and 8th innings as they got buried with goose eggs and couldn’t recover. Offensively Jeff Noe went 3/4 with a double, Dave Anduze 3/4, Angelo Sblendorio 4/4 and had the trifecta with 2 triples, Rich Sicardo kept his hot bat going with a few big 2 out hits and going 3/3, Dan Sopchack and Phil Chontos and Spider DeRito add 2 hits . And Carlos Vasquez added a home run, his first since 1969 playing little league in Brooklyn. Defensely Jeff Noe couldn’t go home with a clean jersey and mad a nice diving catch to end a Pizza Time rally. Congratulations to Pizza Time as it was a nice comeback win.

J&N 20 - Arlington Grill 9

J&N defeated Arlington Grill at Sports Park Jr. today by the score of 20-9. Tommy Giordano pitched a great game and kept the Grill off the board in several innings as J&N kept piling on the runs. Several double plays aided the effort. Offensively everyone on J&N hit. Jaime Pagan had 4 hits, John Warman, Stan "Easy" Silverman, Jim Kirzoncic and Roger Simon all had 3 hits, George Hammer, Russ Gilmore, Dan Diesing, Gerard Haugh, Von Ahouse, Tommy Milholm, Tommy Giordano and Fran Goberish all had 2 hits. Doyle's 13 - Mountain View Ranch 10

Three outstanding outfield plays by Bill Hild, Doug McCracken and John Cacciola in the bottom of the eighth inning gave winning pitcher Joe Prisco the victory. Rob McIsaac, John Cacciola and Bill Hild had 3 hits for Doyle's. Solid defense by RobMcIsaac, Tom Hotailing and Jim Guarnacciao kept Doyle's in this low scoring game.

McHoul's 17 - Pizza Time 5

At Sports Park Jr. both teams started their new season with the first game jitters as a total of one run was scored through the first 2 innings.  Then, finally McHoul's opened up the Flood gates playing both offense and defense. Rodney DeLoatch and Steve Lynch added 3 hits apiece while Bill Hanchett, Bob Diggelmann, Steve Savod, Bill Volpe, Joe Karam, and Joe Hatch all added 2 hits for the cause.  Perhaps more importantly, great defensive plays were had by many including Rodney, Tony, Bob, both Bills, and Rick Wetzel.  All in all, a great game on both sides of the ball for McHoul's. J&N 21 - Doyle's 14

If the 2026 season opening game was an early test of J&N’s resolve, this is going to be one fine season. Behind after the first, ahead after two, thanks to a 5 spot, and then tied at 12 at the end of the fifth. J&N surged ahead at the end of the game to claim its first win.

Dan Diesing, Andy Burger and Dan Doyle all had 4 hits. Diesing hit 2 home runs. George Hammer, Gerard Haugh, Tom Milholm, Tom Giordano and Roger Simon all had 3 hits.
