Mountain View Ranch 9 - Miller's 5

On a rainy morning, Mountain View beat Miller's 9-5. Miller's opened up the scoring with 2 in the 1st but couldn’t score another run in that inning which had bases loaded. Miller's had a few more chances in the 4th and 5th innings but couldn’t have that big inning. Miller's hitters were: Joe Yanarelli who had 2 doubles, Dave Anduze with 2/3 with a triple, Angelo Sblendorio with 2/3 and 2 RBI’ s and Dave Lowitz who added a double. Miller's would like to say our Condolences to Dave (Costa Rica) Napolillo as he lost his wife, Amy 2 weeks ago. Amy came to many games and always supported Dave and the team.

Doyle's 14 - McHoul's 13

In the battle of the funeral homes, Doyle's beat McHoul's 14 -13. McHoul's scored 5 runs in the first, but was shut out the next 5 innings, before scoring 4 runs in the last two innings. Behind the pitching of Bill Hild, Doyle's took a 5 run lead into the 8th inning. McHoul's scored 4 runs in the eighth inning leaving the tying run on base. For Doyle's: John Guarnaccia and Scott Babrowsy had 3 hits, Pat Towne, Dick Michels, Doug McCracken, George Norris, John Cacciola, and Brian Linn had 2 hits for Doyle's. Bill Hild was the winning pitcher.

For McHoul's the game was one big donut-great around the edges but nothing in the middle. We scored all of our runs in the 1st, 7th, and 8th innings with nothing but donuts from the 2nd through the 6th. To the team's credit, we did not give up despite being down by 13 going into the 7th. Bob Diggelmann led the offense going 3-3 with a HR and a SAC. Tony Dalia and Joe Karam each had 3 hits and both had great defensive catches with Joe going back, over his head, behind second base, doubling up the runner from first. Rodney Deloatch, Bill Hanchett, Kevin Laffin, and Dave Napolillo all added 2 hits apiece. Although a loss, the team ended going in the right direction.

Arlington Grill 9 - A&R 8

In a very unusual game, Arlington Grill defeats A&R 9-8 in a very exciting ending. Bert Keating threw 6 innings of zero runs for a complete game victory. But it wasn't easy. The Grill had 3 guys thrown out at home and another thrown out at 3rd. The score was tied in the 8th. With one out in the bottom of the 8th, Jim "Doc" Ranucci hit a single, the next batter, Ralph Bondi hit a double and Doc raced all the way home with the winning run. For the Grill: Ralph Bondi had 4 hits and drove in the winning run. Mark Joao had 3 hits. Rod Whitby, George Cole and Doc Ranucci all had 2 hits.

At Sports Park Junior, Arlington Grill nipped A&R Security 9-8 by scoring a run in the bottom of the 8th. Stats for A&R: Mike Cring 3-3(2rbi), Ben Anker 3-4, Eddie Smilkstein 2-3 (2rs2rbi), Tom Robinson 2-3, Frank McHugh 2-2(2rbi), Greg Miller 2-4 (2rs) Carl Parris 1-3 (2rbi).

TaxBrakes 12 - Pizza Time 7

TaxBrakes defeated Pizza Time 12-7 at Sports Park Sr. Joe DiChiara pitched an excellent game with good defense behind him, which kept Pizza Time, a very good hitting team off the bases and from scoring. TaxBrakes had 24 hits, most of which were timely and in the clutch. What stood out was the speed on the bases, especially Joe Wassweiler and Emil Viola, and very good team defense. Notable offensive players: Joe Wassweiler 4-4 4R, Pete Longobardi 4-4 3R 3RBI, Emil Viola 3-4 3R 1RBI, Larry Stewart 3-4 1R 5RBI, Roger Merritt 2-3 1RBI, Michael Spinelli 1 2-4 2R, Joe DiChiara 1-3 2RBI, John Berrocal 2-3.

Pizza Time coming off a big come from behind win a week ago faced a powerful TaxBrakes team led by powerful hitters throughout the lineup. Pizza Time was the home team and TB scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning. Pizza Time came back and put 2 on the board. Freddie "Hit Man" Patterson lined a single to left field, then Mark "Hot Bats" Batastoni lined a double, then Tom "Pete Rose" Borell would drive in the first run, followed by Reggie "Roberto Clemente" Dolson would drive in the 2nd run of the inning, making the score 3-2 TB. Neither team would score in the 2nd. Like the old saying goes, you can't keep a good team down for long. TB put up a 5 spot in the top of the 3rd and PT couldn't push a run across the board.  Heading into the 4th inning, TB would put up a zero in the top of the 4th. In the bottom, PT would squeeze out a run and cut the lead to 8-3. Pizza Time's defense would step up and shut out the powerful lineup of TB in the top of the 5th. PT would score another run making the score TB 8-4. But top of the 6th, TB put up another single run. The bottom half saw Pizza Time score 2 runs making the score 9-6 closing the gap going into the top of the 7th, Pizza Time's defense would shut out the powerful TB behind the pitching of Sammy "EL Duque" Duke in the top half of the 7th. Pizza Time would load the bases with no outs and Joe DiChiara would close down Pizza Time's offense and not let up a run. Heading into the 8th and open inning, TaxBrakes would take advantage of a 2 out error and score 3 more runs to take a 12-6 lead going into the bottom of the 8th. In the bottom half of the PT order, first guy gets a hit, next batter hits into a 6-4-3 double play, but PT remembered the big comeback from last week and Mo Ragusa would line a hit over third base, then Angelo "Yogi Berra" DiGregorio would line a shot up the middle putting runners on 1st and 3rd. Then a line drive to right center and a great throw and a bang bang play and a great tag at second would end the inning and the comeback. Great Pitching by both pitchers. Both teams played great defense, and a game that should have been high scoring ended up being a defensive gem!! HITTING STATS: Freddie "HIT MAN" Patterson 3-4 1run 1rbi, Mark Batastoni 2-3 3runs 2 doubles. Tom "Pete Rose" Borell 3-3 1run 1rbi, Reggie Dolson 3-3 2rbi, Rick "Derek Jeter" Sierra 2-2 2rbi 1walk, Mike "Mickey Mantle" Vuozzo 1-3 , Da'Coach "Billy Martin" Edwards 1-3 , Anthony "Lou Gehrig" Navarra 1-3, Tony "Graig Nettles" Scaduto  1-3 1run "clutch hit", Sammy "EL Duque" Duke 1-3, Louie" The Judge" Rosenberg 1-3, Mo Ragusa  2-3 1run 1rbi, Angelo "Yogi Berra" DiGregorio 1-3.
