Arlington Grill 25 - Michael's 10
Arlington Bar and Grill defeated an undermanned Michael's 25 to 10 in a 6 inning heat-shortened game. For the Grillers: Jim "Doc" Ranucci, Mark Joao and Tom Mirande had 4 hits. Mike Brooks, George Norris, Pat Towne and Tom Milholm had 3 hits. Angelo Sblendorio was the winning pitcher.
Michael's fell to Arlington Grill 25 to 10. Stats for Michael's: Gerard Haugh 3-3(2rs3rbi), Stan Smilkstein 3-4 (2rs2rbi), Mike Lynch 2-4 (3b), Frank McHugh 2-4 (2rbi3b), Joe Barbarito 2-4, Bobby Joy 2-3 (2rbi).
Pizza Time 15 - A&R 8 (make-up from Week 5)
In a battle of two evenly matched teams PT won both games 15-8 and 14-13. Hitting stats for the first game: Greg Miller 2-3 2runs, Joe Wassweiler 2-3 2run 3rbi. Reggie Dolson 3-3 3runs 3rbis, Roger Merritt 1-3 2run 2rbi, Da'Coach 3-3 3run 2rbi, Charlie Melia 2-3 1run 2rbi, Anthony Navarra 2-3, Donnie Black 1-3, Joe Karam 2-3, Stan Silverman 1-3, Bert Keating 2-3 1run, Frank Navarra 1-3. Great game by both teams!!
Pizza Time 14 - A&R 13
Second game of the double header, A&R lead the whole game till the bottom of the 5th, the open inning. PT was trailing 13-8, with the top of the order up. Greg Miller hit a hard ground ball to the 5 hole, when A&R shortstop made a great play to just throw out Greg by a step. One out when Joe Wassweiler lined a double in the gap, then Reggie Dolson would hit a single, driving in Joe. PT trailing by 4 with Roger Merritt coming up, he would get one of his 3 hits on the day, a big hit scoring Reggie. PT down by 3 with a runner on first, then the Coach gets up and hits a ball to center scoring Roger, PT down by 2 with the tying run on first base. Up steps to the plate Charlie Melia, he would pull the ball that got between the outfielders and scored 1 run making it A&R 13 -12. With the tying and winning runs on base Anthony Navarra would driving in the tying run making it 13-13. Then up steps Donnie Black who works out a walk. winning run on second and one out. Stan Silverman [bye team sub] would hit a fly ball to short left that dropped in for the winning run. Pizza Time pulled out a squeaker,14--13 win. Both teams battled the heat and sun and played two great games. Water was shared between teams keeping guys hydrated.
Doyle's 26 - McHoul's 11
Doyle's defeated McHoul's 26-11. Winning pitcher Tom Giordano, Dan Diesing was 5-5 with 3 doubles, Dan Doyle was 4-5 with 3doubles, Dave Anduze was 4-5 with 2 doubles, Al Hicks was 4-4, Tom Giordano was 3-4, Pete Schwarze was 3-4 with doubles, Mo Ragusa, Steve Schmid, Spider Derito, Flash Prisco and Rod DeLoatch all had 2 hits for Doyle's.
Doyle's pounded McHoul's for a 26-11 victory today at Sports Park Jr. For McHoul's, Jim Kirzoncic went 4 for 4 with Tony Dalia, Dave Lowitz, Frank Goberish and Gary DiMaggio chipping in 3 hits each. Mike Healy, Phil Chontos and Russ Gilmore each had 2 hits in the effort.
Miller's 19 - Mountain View Ranch 18
At Sports Park Sr. Miller's came back and beat Mountain View Ranch 19-18. Mountain View Ranch opened the game with a 5 run inning. Miller's came back with 2 runs as Lou ( Mr. Consistency) Post had a leadoff homer to spark Miller's. In the 2nd Mountain View Ranch had another 5 run inning. And Miller's came back with 4 runs. In the 3rd inning, Miller's came back with 4 more runs to tie the score 10-10. In the 4th inning Moutain View again scored 5 runs. In that inning Mike Capra took a line drive off his pitching hand and Dewy Bogardus came in to relieve Mike Capra who still went 3/3. In the 5th, John Warman and Dave (Costa Rica) Napolillo hits homers to tie the score at 15-15. Dewy Bogardus shut down Mountain View Ranch twice with goose eggs. In the 7th with Mountain View up by 1 . John Warmantied the score with a sac fly but it was Tom Borell who hit a 3 run Bomb that put Miller's in front for the first time. Mountain View Ranch had a chance to tie with the tying runs on base, but Dewy shut them down. After the game, Dewey was presented with the Bob Crabtree game ball. Doc Willoughby played a great outfield. It was another great team effort as each person contributed.
