J&N had their chances but defensive lapses and failing to hit at the right time, combined to keep us winless. Miller's 15 - McHoul's 7
On a hot day, Miller's beat McHoul's for the battle of the coffin cup, 15-7. Miller's opened with three runs in each of the first three innings. The team was led by John Warman 4/4 with three doubles and Tom Borell going 2/4 with a homer and a triple, Doc Willoughby 3/4 and Carlos (Cyclone) Vazquez 3/3. Miller's had 22 hits, but it was John Warman's glove that put the nail in the McHoul's coffin with unbelievable plays in the field. John turned a DP and the most impressive play with 1st and 2nd and 2 outs. John dove at a ball up the middle and threw out the batter at first while on his back. Mike Capra again pitched a great game.
Today, McHoul's put up another great defensive effort but lost the game to Miller's by a score of 15-7. Miller's put up 6 runs in late innings and McHoul's just couldn't find the switch to catch up. For McHoul's, Frank Goberish, Emil Viola and Phil Chontos provided 3 hits apiece with Russ Gilmore, Peter Longobardi, Tony Dalia, Gary DiMaggio and Carey Wasserberg pitching in with 2 hits each.
