TaxBrakes 13 - Doyle's 11

TaxBrakes prevailed today defeating Doyle’s 13-11 with a total team effort. Outstanding pitching by Andy Endsley and Joe DiChiara took our usual good defense to another level holding Doyle’s scoreless in 5 separate innings. Roger Merritt was great at 3B, backed by special plays from Emil Viola and Joe Wassweiler. Hitting star was Gary Dimaggio 3-3, followed by Joe Wassweiler 3-4, Pete Longobardi 3RBI, Emil Viola 1-1 BB2RBI, and Andy Endsley 2RBI.

For Doyle's - Hild and Willoughby were 3-3. Doyle's had 5 innings that were 3 and out and left the tying run on 1st base in the 8th inning.

Mountain View Ranch 20 - A&R 17

At Sports park Jr, last place A&R put up a gallant effort in losing to first place Mountain View Ranch 20-17. McHoul's 22 - J&N 8

In typical Friday fashion, the team with the least players ends up with the least runs. Today was no different as McHoul's was able to take care of the defensive gaps and outscore J&N 21-8.  Rodney Deloatch and Rick Wetzel went 4-4 while Bill Volpe, Steve Savod, Joe Karem and Bob Digglemann all went 3-4 with Bob hitting a solid home run. Kevin Laffin went 2-3 with a walk. Jim Flood and Joe Hatch added 2 hits apiece.  McHoul's qualified for one player from a bye team and where better to get an extra body than another funeral home. Thanks to Phil Chontos for helping us out and going 3-4 to boot.

McHoul's over J&N 22-8. Apparently, it’s tough to staff a team for a Friday makeup game. Here, in J&N town, we like to challenge ourselves. You know, see if we can come back from 15 or 23 run deficits and win. It’s our way of fighting with one hand tied behind our backs. None of those challenges have been met so we tried a new one. Now we tried to show up with 9 players and see if we can win. A whole bunch of old men with pulses and gloves playing whatever position they felt they could do the least damage at. And then running for themselves. George Hammer even volunteered to pinch run for another player and scored for the first time in his career. We were that close to pulling this one off. Things were going great until the third inning was over and we realized that it was 8-1. Fourth inning 13-1. Get the idea? On the bright side. The players who did show up, had hits. But mostly singles. So, it didn’t add up to enough. Stan Silverman 4/5 with a triple, 2 RS and 2 RBI’s. Jaime Pagan 3/5 with 2 Doubles and a RS. Tom Milholm 3/5 with 2 RS and an RBI. Jim Kirzoncic 3/5 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Frank Goberish 3/5 with a RS. Gerard Haugh 3/5 with 2 RBI’s. Andy Burger 2/5 with a RS. And Roger Simon 2/4. Maybe next week.
