It is an ancient Mariner,

And he stoppeth one of three.

'By thy long grey beard and glittering eye,

Now wherefore stopp'st thou me?

We were an ancient Softball Team

Who stoppeth one of three.

The other two went by our gloves

The balls hit grass or tree.

We started slow,

dug a hole so deep

That I did began  to weep.

But then being down sixteen to five

Our bats began to waken

We dropped two innings of five on them

A & R began to quaken.

Outfield, Outfield everywhere but no safe place to hit it

An eighth inning blast exited the field

We knew that we were still in it.

Alas the hole was too big to climb

We ran out of time

We need our defense to stop the decline

If we focus and work we should be fine.

Miller's 25 - McHoul's 10

At Sports Park Sr., Miller's vs McHoul's for the Casket Cup. Miller's defeated McHoul's by the score 25-10. Miller's hot bats kept going all day as they scored in every inning. Miller's defense came up big by turning 3 double plays, 2 of them with bases loaded and 1 out. Again, this was a total team effort as everyone contributed. The pallbearers for Miller's that put McHoul's to rest were Jeff Noe who went 4/4 and hit for the cycle, Dave Lowitz went 4/4, Chris Thomas 3/4, Rich “the dance machine“ Sicardo 4/4, Dan “the man“ Sopchack 3/4 with a triple, Phil Chontos 2-4 with 2 doubles. Others who placed the flowers and dirt on McHoul's casket were Yanarella, Anduze, Hill, Kupiec, Wasserberg and Dewey with 2 hits and Spider DeRito and winning Pitcher Angelo Splendorio contributed with their gloves and bats.

It was not a good day for McHoul's as we came in dead last in the first round of the funeral home circuit.  We faced a hot hitting Miller's, and they simply did not cool down.  When we had a threat going, we were DP'd right out of it.  We were not at our best defensively.  Offensively, everyone got three at bats.  Mike Capra went 2-2 with a walk.  Bill Volpe stayed hot with a 2-3 performance. Steve Savod went 2-3 with a beautiful triple.  Others with 2 hits included Rodney Deloatch, Bob Diggelmann, Tony Dalia, Kevin Laffin, Dave Napolillo, and Joe Karam.  We dug ourselves in a deep hole but deep down we are a good team.
